The Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, made a remarkable appearance at the National Club Championship organized by the Teqball Federation of Ghana on Saturday, 12th July 2025.
The prestigious event, which brought together teqball enthusiasts, athletes, and stakeholders from across the country, was held at Accra Sports Stadium, celebrating the growth and innovation of one of Ghana’s emerging sports.
In a show of solidarity and commitment to the development of alternative and inclusive sports disciplines, the NSA Director General donated an undisclosed amount towards the successful organization of the championship. His generous gesture was warmly received by the leadership of the Teqball Federation and the teqball community at large, further reinforcing the national body’s recognition of teqball as a valuable addition to Ghana’s sporting ecosystem.
Addressing athletes, officials, and supporters at the event, the NSA boss lauded the Federation for its continuous efforts in promoting teqball across the nation. He praised the discipline, creativity, and competitive spirit demonstrated by the participating clubs and athletes, urging them to stay committed to the sport and keep striving for excellence.

“Teqball represents a new frontier for Ghanaian sport,” he remarked. “Its growing popularity, especially among the youth, is a testament to the dynamic nature of sport and its power to unite, engage, and empower. I encourage all stakeholders to continue with the good work, and I call on corporate Ghana—our businesses and companies—to lend their support to this innovative sport.”
The Director General also emphasized the importance of diversifying sports investments in Ghana, pointing out that non-traditional sports like teqball have the potential to create new opportunities for youth development, tourism, and international representation.
The National Club Championship marks a significant milestone in the Teqball Federation of Ghana’s calendar and further demonstrates the Federation’s commitment to nurturing talent and expanding teqball’s reach across the country. The event featured a series of competitive matches between top-ranked clubs, showcasing high-level skills and sportsmanship.
As the sport of teqball continues to gain traction globally and locally, the support from institutions like the National Sports Authority and the anticipated backing from corporate entities will be vital in scaling participation, hosting international events, and developing elite athletes to represent Ghana on the world stage.
