NPP race: Adutwum takes campaign to Afigya Kwabre South, Kwabre East

Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, a flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has intensified his campaign in the Ashanti Region with visits to the Afigya Kwabre South and Kwabre East constituencies ahead of the party’s presidential primary scheduled for January 31.

The former Education Minister was warmly received by party delegates in both constituencies, where he outlined his vision for the party and the nation, urging delegates to make a strategic choice that would secure victory for the NPP in the 2028 general elections.

Dr Adutwum cautioned that the 2028 election would not be a “walk in the park” for the NPP, stressing the need for the party to elect a flagbearer with broad national appeal and a proven track record.

He argued that the party’s chances of returning to power would largely depend on selecting a candidate who resonates with the wider Ghanaian electorate.

He highlighted his achievements in the education sector during his tenure as sector Minister, noting that education remained a key concern for most Ghanaian families.

He said it was therefore imperative for the NPP to present a candidate with demonstrable experience and results in a sector that directly affects the nation’s future.

According to him, the decision delegates would take at the upcoming primary would have long-term implications for the country, particularly for future generations.

“The choice you make today will determine the future of our children and grandchildren,” he told the delegates.

The flagbearer hopeful also appealed to delegates in the Ashanti Region to rally behind his bid, noting that, historically, party flag bearers have enjoyed strong support from their home regions.

He described the Ashanti Region as a critical stronghold whose backing would be crucial to his quest to lead the party.

Touching on his broader national vision, Dr Adutwum said politics should be about impacting lives by improving livelihoods and lifting people out of poverty.

He pledged to pursue deliberate policies aimed at improving the quality of life of Ghanaians and increasing life expectancy, stressing that development would be meaningless if citizens did not live long enough to enjoy its benefits.

He reaffirmed his commitment to building a prosperous Ghana, where citizens could live fulfilling lives, calling on NPP delegates to entrust him with the mandate to lead the party into the next general election.
