NPP national organiser hopeful calls for unity ahead of presidential elections

As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) approaches its upcoming Presidential Elections, National Organiser hopeful Korsi Bodja has called for calm, unity, and the preservation of the party’s long-standing political tradition.

In a statement released on Thursday, January 8, Mr Bodja emphasised that the party’s internal democratic process must reflect discipline and respect, rather than factionalism.

“We are not merely choosing a flagbearer,” he said. “We are holding in trust a tradition handed down through sacrifice, persecution, resilience, and victory. The tradition did not survive decades of struggle to be weakened by internal discord at a defining moment.”

He drew on the symbolism of the party’s emblem, the Elephant, to underline his point. “The Elephant, our enduring symbol, does not charge blindly. It moves with strength, memory, and discipline. It stands firm, protects its own, and advances with purpose. In that same spirit, before, during, and after this internal democratic exercise, calm, unity, and restraint must define our conduct.”

Mr Bodja urged members to place the Party above personal ambition. “No ambition, however noble, is greater than the Party. No temporary victory is worth the permanent damage to our collective home. When emotions rise, we must remember that after the ballots are cast, there must still be one New Patriotic Party united, respected, and ready to win power for the people of Ghana.”

He also called on members to view internal democracy as a strength rather than a weapon. “Differences of opinion must sharpen our ideas, not fracture our bonds. Let us argue with passion but act with discipline; compete vigorously but conclude peacefully; win with humility and lose with dignity,” he said.

Mr Bodja emphasised that the party’s legacy is greater than any individual’s success. “The Party must live on, for it is the only political tradition many of us have known, served, and defended through storms and setbacks. To injure it in pursuit of personal success is to betray the very ideals that brought us together. History will not only record who won this contest, but it will judge whether we protected the tradition through it.”

“The Elephant must not be wounded by its own. The tradition must endure. The NPP must rise again together,” he added.

Korsi Bodja, a seasoned grassroots organiser, began his political journey in the Volta Region during a period when the NPP was considered a no-go area. Rising through the ranks from constituency to regional levels, he has served as Volta Regional Organiser for two terms, National Council Member, and Dean of all Regional Organisers, undertaking strategic assignments across all levels of the party.

He holds a BSc in Information Technology from BlueCrest College, an MA in Management and Administration from the University of Ghana Business School, and an MPA in Public Administration from the University of Memphis, USA.
