NPP more united than NDC in Kpandai ahead of rerun - Mussa Dankwah

Pollster and Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) currently appears more united than the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Kpandai constituency, a factor he believes could prove decisive in the upcoming parliamentary rerun.

Speaking on the AM Show, Dankwah explained that recent polling data shows strong internal cohesion within the NPP, while the NDC is experiencing noticeable cracks in voter loyalty, particularly among key demographics.

“But the guy is very strong. I think we can’t take that away from him. He has to hold his own and make sure there’s no division within his rank,” Dankwah said, referring to the NPP candidate, Matthew Nyindam.

“From the data we’ve seen, NPP is solid behind their candidate, whereas NDC is fragmented in that area at the moment.”

His comments follow the release of a Global InfoAnalytics survey ahead of the Kpandai parliamentary rerun, which places Nyindam narrowly in the lead.

The poll shows the NPP candidate securing 50 per cent of voter support, with the NDC’s Daniel Nsala Wakpal close behind on 46 per cent.

According to the findings, independent candidate Donkor Eric Nipani is projected to receive about one per cent of the vote, while three per cent of respondents remain undecided. With a margin of error of ±3.9 per cent, the poll suggests the race is still too close to call.

Dankwah noted that the NDC’s challenge goes beyond headline numbers, pointing to signs of uncertainty within its support base, especially among women voters.

“If you look at those who voted for this candidate, some of the women are saying they are undecided. So, something is not right in NDC there,” he observed, adding that internal party divisions could cost the opposition if not addressed quickly.

He cautioned, however, that the dynamics could still shift before election day, stressing that voter sentiment remains fluid in closely contested races such as Kpandai.

The Kpandai rerun has attracted national attention, with both major parties intensifying campaigns in the constituency, seen as a key political battleground. Analysts say turnout, party unity and last-minute persuasion of undecided voters are likely to determine the outcome.
