Aid to former President John Mahama has described the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) petition for the Police Criminal Investigative Department (CID) to arrest former President, John Mahama as a “piece of drivel that must be cast into the nearest dustbin.”

Speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story on Wednesday, Felix Kwakye Ofosu said “NPP by the day, gives more reason why they should be booted out in 2024.”

This, he explained, is because the NPP is not serious and focused on the important things that matter to Ghanaians.

“For a party that in government  has supervised the kind of an economic mess, rot and decay that has plunged Ghanaians into this sort of suffering, you would think that they would spend all their time to find solutions to the problem and would not waste precious time on such irrelevant matters [the petition].”

Mr Kwakye Ofosu’s comment comes after the NPP petitioned the CID to arrest Mr Mahama for allegedly making treasonable remarks.

They also called for the arrest and prosecution of the NDC Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia.

He said the two personalities wield influential positions in the country and as such any dangerous comments from them could jeopardize the country’s security.

But reacting to this, Mr Kwakye Ofosu questioned the basis for the petition.

This, he noted is because Mr Mahama’s use of the term “do or die” is very common, adding that people use it to indicate the seriousness or gravity of a particular activity that they need to undertake.”

According to him, “if you have a government that has been appalling in the management of the economy or the country as the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government, nobody needs a reminder that we need to put everything in the 2024 election, to get rid of them.”

When asked if he can confirm whether the police has written to Mr Mahama after the NPP’s petition, he said: “I will actually be surprised if the Ghana Police will waste its time extending such as an invitation.”

“I am sure that the Ghana Police Service have better use for their time than chasing such ridiculous endeavours,” he added.
