The campaign team of Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum says delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are poised to make history by electing him as the party’s flagbearer at the upcoming primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
Dr Gyamfi Adwabour Ajabour, Campaign Manager for Dr Adutwum, made the declaration in an interview on JoyNews’ The Pulse, expressing confidence in the strength and reach of the campaign across the country.
Asked about the extent of the campaign tour, Dr Ajabour disclosed that the team has so far visited close to nine out of the 16 regions, adding that the campaign machinery remains active even in regions yet to be personally visited by the candidate.
He noted that a strong network of regional coordinators, operations directors and party officials are advancing the campaign message in areas where Dr Adutwum is yet to tour.
“It’s a whole force, a very big team behind Dr Yaw Adutwum, and all of them are very formidable and ready to make sure the NPP delegates make history by electing Dr Yaw Adutwum come January 31, 2026,” he added.
On the next phase of the contest — convincing the general electorate after the primaries — Dr Ajabour said that task would be much easier, given Dr Adutwum’s track record and national appeal.
According to him, the more difficult hurdle is winning the party’s internal contest, a challenge he believes the campaign is well positioned to overcome.
He argued that the former Education Minister has already endeared himself to the public through his performance in office and long-standing leadership experience.
“Based on what he did at Education and his global appeal, Ghanaians see him as someone like gold — somebody that must lead the country because of the things he has done over the years,” he stated.
He further cited endorsements from religious leaders and other groups as evidence of growing support for Dr Adutwum’s presidential ambition.
The NPP is expected to elect its flagbearer on January 31, 2026, ahead of the 2028 general elections.
