The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) has dismissed reports suggesting that its Chief Executive Officer, Margaret Ansei, has terminated staff following the circulation of an internal memo dated 3rd December 2025.
In a statement released on Monday, December 8, the Agency said the circulating media interpretation was “entirely inaccurate” and emphasised that no permanent staff had been sacked.
According to GEA, the memo in question pertained solely to contract staff engaged under specific projects with defined timelines.
These District Coordinators had annual renewable contracts that officially ended on 31st August 2025, with an additional two-month extension granted to ensure continuity of work, which concluded on 31st October 2025.
The Agency clarified that contract renewal is not automatic and depends on performance, attendance, project needs, and funding availability.
“The internal memo merely directed that individuals whose contracts have expired, and who are yet to complete renewal processes, should temporarily cease reporting to work until the processes are concluded,” the statement read.
It further noted that National Service Personnel who had completed their mandatory service were also included, in line with national policy, to prevent operational irregularities and ensure proper accountability.
GEA stressed that the memo did not target mainstream or permanent staff and that the claims circulating in some media outlets were misleading.
“No permanent or mainstream GEA staff have been dismissed. The memo did not, and was never intended to, affect career staff of the Agency,” the statement clarified.
The Agency reiterated its commitment to transparency, fair treatment, and due process for all staff, including project-based contract workers and National Service Personnel.
