If sales figures are anything to go by, the Nissan Navara is now Ghana’s favourite pickup, and it’s quickly becoming an African icon.

But rather than rest on its success, the brand is pushing boundaries, recently expanding into Egypt, a market traditionally dominated by the Chevy K-Series (a rebadged Isuzu D-Max), and now unleashing a new variant: the Navara Pro-4X Warrior.
Developed in collaboration with Australian off-road engineering specialists Premcar, the Pro-4X Warrior takes the already-capable Pro-4X and dials everything up a notch. It’s bolder, tougher, and more adventure-ready than ever.

What Makes the Warrior, a Warrior?
Think of the Warrior as the Pro-4X, only with more muscle. It gets:
- Increased ground clearance
- Upgraded off-road suspension (tuned springs and dampers)
- heavy-duty bash plate
- high-performance Dunlop all-terrain tyres
- Tougher body cladding and signature “Warrior” decals
- Sports bar
- Integrated tow bar
- Leather seats embroidered with “Pro-4X” and “Warrior”
- Wider Track
- Reinforced underbody
- Under the hood, it retains the trusted 2.5L DDTi turbo-diesel engine producing 140 kW and 450 Nm of torque, plenty of grunt for whatever terrain lies ahead.
Proven in the Spirit of Africa Challenge
The Warrior was put to the test at the 2025 Spirit of Africa Trophy Challenge held at Sandwani Game Lodge in Gauteng, South Africa. This legendary event features some of the continent’s toughest off-road driving scenarios, terrain that’s known to push purpose-built off-roaders to their limits.
This year’s edition, dubbed the Warrior Edition, included 16 punishing challenges (13 of which were completed), testing everything from traction and articulation to ground clearance, gearing, and electronic assists. Despite many participants being off-road novices, the Navara Warriors came through without a single breakdown or mechanical failure, impressive by any standard.
Even more remarkable was how the Warrior combined ruggedness with comfort. Drivers remained cocooned in leather-clad cabins as the vehicles tackled mud, ruts, and steep inclines with confidence and grace. Its agility inspired trust, even if the throttle response felt a touch lazy during high-speed runs. But once in motion, the Warrior delivered strong, usable power and impressive torque through the most demanding terrain.
When Can You Get One?
Soon. The first batch of Navara Pro-4X Warriors is already en route to customers, with real-world owners set to take delivery in just a few weeks.
