Nigeria's President Tinubu condoles with Ghana over tragic helicopter crash

Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his deepest condolences to Ghana following the devastating helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight people, including two high-ranking government ministers.

The tragic accident, which occurred today, August 6, has plunged the country into a state of national mourning.

In a press release issued from the State House, President Tinubu expressed his sorrow to Ghanaian President John Mahama, the government, and the people of Ghana.

The crash resulted in the deaths of Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and six other individuals.

The President’s Special Adviser on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, conveyed President Tinubu’s message, assuring Ghana of Nigeria’s solidarity.

“President Tinubu assures President Mahama and all Ghanaians that the thoughts and prayers of the government and people of Nigeria are with them during this time of profound national loss,” the statement read.

President Tinubu paid tribute to the victims, urging the Ghanaian nation and the bereaved families to “find comfort in the knowledge that their loved ones died in the line of patriotic service to the country.”

He concluded with prayers for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed and for strength for those they left behind.

The crash marks a sombre day for the country, with the loss of two prominent ministers who were key figures in the current administration.

Investigations into the cause of the helicopter crash are expected to commence immediately to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
