Nigeria AG’s intervention brings relief to River Park estate investors – JonahCapital

The Chief Executive Officer of JonahCapital Nigeria Limited, Kojo Ansah Mensah, has welcomed the findings and directives issued by Nigeria’s Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, describing the intervention as a major boost for investor confidence and the rule of law.

In a statement issued on December 31, 2025, Mr Mensah commended Attorney General Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, for what he called a courageous and principled handling of the long-running River Park Estate dispute.

According to him, the Attorney General’s review has restored hope among foreign investors that Nigeria’s institutions can uphold due process and constitutional order.

“The timely intervention of the Honourable Attorney General has restored confidence and renewed hope among foreign investors and the business community that Nigeria remains a country governed by laws, due process, and institutional accountability,” Mr Mensah said.

His comments follow a comprehensive legal review by the Attorney General into disputes surrounding River Park Estate and its associated companies.

The review reportedly raised concerns about earlier actions by state institutions, including the handling of police investigations and changes to corporate records at Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

Mr Mensah said JonahCapital had been troubled by the refusal of the Nigeria Police Force to release an earlier Special Investigation Panel report, as well as what he described as an “extra-judicial expropriation” of the company’s shares and alteration of its corporate records on December 8, 2025.

He welcomed the Attorney General’s directive to the Registrar-General of the CAC to reverse the changes, noting that they were made without any court order. He said the development reaffirms the presumption of innocence and the central role of due process in Nigeria’s justice system.

The JonahCapital CEO also expressed gratitude to several Ghanaian and Nigerian officials, including President Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria and John Dramani Mahama of Ghana, as well as Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ghana High Commission in Nigeria, for their support during the dispute.

He further thanked residents of River Park Estate, the company’s legal team, and staff who, he said, endured a difficult period marked by intimidation and violence.

Looking ahead, Mr Mensah reiterated JonahCapital’s commitment to Nigeria, stressing that the company remains a law-abiding foreign investor determined to contribute to the country’s economic development.

He also issued a caution to the public, investors and financial institutions to “exercise extreme caution” in dealing with individuals he claims are presenting altered status reports relating to River Park Estate, pending the full implementation of the Attorney General’s findings.
