The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced that it will begin paying 20% salary arrears owed to its staff starting January 2025. The arrears relate to adjustments approved under the public sector salary structure.

At a press briefing on Wednesday, 18th June, the Head of Corporate Affairs at the NIA, Williams Ampomah Emmanuel Darlas, confirmed that the payment had been captured in the Authority’s 2025 budget and had received approval from the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission as well as the Ministry of Finance.

Mr Darlas assured NIA staff that administrative arrangements were already in motion to facilitate the payment process.

“The Finance Ministry, led by Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, acknowledged receipt of the letter yesterday and promised to fast-track all necessary processes and forward it to the Controller and Accountant-General so that staff can benefit from their 20% arrears dating back to January,” he said.

He gave a strong assurance that the arrears would not be neglected.

“I want to assure the staff of the National Identification Authority that their 20% will be paid,” Mr Darlas reiterated.
