Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation announces homecoming of scholarship beneficiaries

The Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation (NADeF) has announced the inaugural edition of its Scholarship Beneficiaries Homecoming, scheduled for December 16, 2025, at the Foundation’s Secretariat in Ntotroso.

In a statement issued on December 11, 2025, NADeF explained that the event is designed to bring together past and present scholarship beneficiaries to celebrate achievements, reconnect, and explore opportunities for collaboration aimed at advancing development in the Ahafo Region.

The Homecoming marks a significant milestone in NADeF’s evolution as one of Ghana’s most respected corporate–community foundation models.

It celebrates more than seventeen years of sustained impact made possible through a unique partnership between Newmont Ghana Gold Limited (NGGL) and the Ahafo Social Responsibility Forum (ASRF).

The event will highlight this transformative journey by showcasing the accomplishments of beneficiaries who now serve as doctors, nurses, engineers, ICT specialists, teachers, artisans, and entrepreneurs in Ghana and abroad.

Several NADeF graduates currently occupy strategic leadership roles in public service, academia, and industry.

To date, NADeF has invested GH¢42.8 million in scholarships and capacity-building programmes, supporting 14,307 young people across its ten host communities. Of this number, 7,855 are males (54.90%) and 6,452 females (45.10%), underscoring the Foundation’s commitment to gender inclusion and equitable development.

The Foundation has also supported 7,862 tertiary-level students pursuing degrees, diplomas, and professional qualifications across diverse fields.

“These numbers are not just statistics,” NADeF’s Executive Secretary, Elizabeth Opoku-Darko, emphasised.

“They represent transformed lives, strengthened families, and communities whose horizons continue to expand.”

She added that the Homecoming is more than a ceremonial gathering, describing it as “a powerful platform for beneficiaries to reconnect, share experiences, explore opportunities, and build collaborations that can transform our communities.”

NADeF says beneficiaries will also be reminded of the critical role they play in sustaining the Foundation’s legacy.

Describing its scholarship recipients as “true legacy,” the Foundation urged them to remember their roots, give back to their communities, and continue paving the path for future generations.

Beneficiaries living outside the region or abroad are also encouraged to participate as part of a growing alumni network dedicated to driving development in Ahafo.

The December 16 event is expected to initiate a renewed cycle of beneficiary engagement, collaboration, and community impact, reinforcing NADeF’s core belief that sustainable development is most powerful when empowered individuals become active contributors to their community’s progress.
