In a rare show of overwhelming confidence and unity, Reverend Martin Prince Korbla Amenaki has been confirmed as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ketu North Municipal Assembly, receiving a resounding 100% endorsement from all 52 assembly members.

The confirmation, which took place on Wednesday, 9th April 2025, at the Municipal Assembly Hall, marked the beginning of what Rev. Amenaki describes as a “new dawn” for the people of Ketu North — one filled with hope, partnership, and accelerated development.

In his acceptance and inaugural address delivered shortly after his confirmation, the newly sworn-in MCE expressed deep humility and gratitude, describing his appointment as a divine calling and a responsibility he embraces with unwavering commitment.

“God Almighty, on 7th December, ushered our beautiful Ketu North into a new dawn. That dawn is in motion today. Great things He has done; greater things He will do,” he declared, setting a hopeful and reverent tone for the historic day.

Rev. Amenaki’s speech outlined a bold and ambitious vision to “reset” Ketu North for comprehensive development, grounded in collective participation and community-driven leadership.

Acknowledging the challenges facing the municipality — from economic constraints to infrastructural deficits — the MCE stressed the need for unity, calling on residents to rally behind his leadership.

“This is not a task I can undertake alone. It requires a collective effort, a unified spirit, and the active participation of every resident,” he said.

The MCE emphasised his commitment to working closely with Ketu North’s Member of Parliament, Hon. Eric Edem Agbana, describing the MP as a dynamic and dedicated leader whose efforts will be crucial in transforming the municipality.

He assured the people that their shared development blueprint would be aligned with the broader manifesto of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by former President John Dramani Mahama, and the “Adzorgbe” pledge spearheaded by Hon. Agbana.

Rev. Amenaki’s development plan rests on six main pillars:

  • Economic Empowerment: Focused on youth employment, entrepreneurship, agricultural modernisation, and attracting sustainable investment.
  • Educational Advancement: Enhancing access to quality education, improving infrastructure, and investing in both teachers and students.
  • Healthcare Accessibility: Expanding medical facilities, promoting preventive care, and ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare.
  • Infrastructural Development: Upgrading roads, enhancing sanitation systems, providing clean water, and extending reliable electricity coverage.
  • Social Inclusion and Equity: Advocating for the marginalised, promoting unity in diversity, and ensuring equal opportunity for all residents.
  • Good Governance and Transparency: Maintaining open dialogue with citizens, fostering participatory governance, and ensuring accountability in all decisions.

A call to unity and action

The new MCE pledged to lead with transparency, listen to the people’s needs, and keep his doors open to constructive dialogue. He urged all political divides to be set aside for the sake of unity and progress.

“Let us roll up our sleeves and build the Ketu North we want together — a municipality that stands as a beacon of progress, opportunity, and unity in diversity,” he said.

Gratitude and optimism

With visible emotion, Rev. Amenaki acknowledged the trust reposed in him by the assembly members, promising to justify their confidence with action, integrity, and results. He also paid tribute to traditional authorities, civil servants, and the people of Ketu North for their resilience and support.

“The journey ahead will undoubtedly have its challenges, but I am filled with optimism and a resolute determination to overcome them with you,” he concluded.

As Ketu North turns a new page in its administrative leadership, residents and stakeholders alike await the implementation of the MCE’s ambitious plans with hopeful anticipation.
