Nestlé Ghana says local infant formula products not affected by global recall

Nestlé Ghana has moved to reassure consumers that infant formula products sold on the Ghanaian market are safe, following reports of a global recall involving some baby formula brands over concerns about a toxin that can cause food poisoning.

In a statement issued in response to the reports, the company clarified that the voluntary and precautionary recall announced in some countries does not apply to products distributed by Nestlé Ghana.

“We would like to clarify that infant formula sold by Nestlé Ghana is not part of the voluntary and precautionary recall/withdrawal of specific batches of infant formula announced in some countries,” the company stated.

Nestlé Ghana stressed that all its infant formula products officially registered with Ghana’s Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) remain unaffected.

“We want to emphasize that the Nestlé Infant Formula products sold by Nestlé Ghana and officially registered with the Food and Drugs Authority are not affected by this recall/withdrawal,” the statement added.

The company further assured parents and caregivers that all its SMA and NAN product ranges on the Ghanaian market are safe for consumption.

These include SMA Gold 1, SMA Gold 2, SMA Gold 3, as well as NAN Optipro 1, NAN Optipro 2 and NAN Optipro 3.

According to Nestlé Ghana, product safety and infant health remain its highest priorities.

“The safety and quality of our products, and the health of babies, are our top priorities,” the company said, urging the public to remain calm and rely on verified information from official sources.
