Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced the disbursement of GH¢987,965,730 to the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) as the first-quarter allocation for 2025.
Addressing Parliament on Tuesday, June 3, he said the transfer was made on Monday, June 2, from the Consolidated Fund, reinforcing government’s commitment to decentralisation and local governance.
“As of yesterday, the DACF has received and we have transferred GH¢987,965,730 from the Consolidated Fund,” he told lawmakers.
He noted that 80 per cent of the amount must be transferred directly to the district assemblies without delay, in line with statutory requirements.
“The Administrator of the DACF is required to ensure that 80% of this amount is transferred directly to the district assemblies without fail.
“Expenditure returns must be submitted to the Ministry of Finance before any subsequent releases are made,” he said.
Dr. Forson also urged Members of Parliament to monitor the use of the funds in their constituencies to ensure accountability and adherence to cabinet-approved spending guidelines.
“Honourable Members of Parliament are encouraged to monitor the utilisation of these funds in their respective districts, in line with the directives approved by the cabinet of President John Dramani Mahama,” he added.
