NDC primaries

Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Tamale Central, Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini Tamale North and Daniel Nsala, Wakpal Kpandai Constituency.

Three seating MPs in the Northern Region are going unopposed after the closing of nominations on Wednesday, March 22.

The three incumbent MPs are Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Tamale Central, Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini Tamale North and Daniel Nsala, Wakpal Kpandai Constituency.

Two females have also filled to contest the primaries.

In all, 59 persons, including all the nine incumbent MPs have filed their nominations to contest the Parliamentary primaries in their respective constituencies.

Vetting is expected to begin from March 27 – 29, 2023.

In the Kumbungu Constituency, Ras Mubarak stages a comeback as he files to contest current MP Professor Hamza Adama and five others.

The rest are Sualihu Aliyu Mailba, Mohammed A. Ganiyu Shitu and Lawyer Rashid Mohammed Mumuni.

In the Saveugu Constituency, the incumbent MP Alhaji Jacob Iddris Wunbenkpan will battle it out with three others for the slot.

Whiles in the Mion Constituency, Mohammed Abdul Aziz who was shown the exit by the Musah Ayaba of the NPP at the general elections stages a return at the primaries to seek their mandate to represent Mion.

He has Dr Muawiya Zakaria, Alhaji Mahama Misbawu, Salifu Latif, Alhaji Mohammed Osman Doobia and Alhassan Adama to contend with.

The former Minority leader Iddrisu Haruna will face it off with Bawa Abdul Fataw for the Tamale South Constituency.

In the Sagnarigu Constituency, A. B. A. Fuseini has five others to shake off to be able to pick the slot for that constituency.

In Saboba Constituency, the two Josephs will slog it out Joseph Nikpe Bukari and Joseph K Yimpuri for the position.

Tolon Constituency has Dr Tahiru Osman Damba, a lecturer at the University for Development Studies and the 2020 NDC parliamentary candidate Adamu Yussif.

Wulensi has Abukari Dawuni, Samuel Nyimaka and Standley Nandaya who are contesting for the position.
Yendi has three contenders; Lawyer Abdul Fatawu Alhassan, Alhaji Hamza Alikali and Yakubu Alhassan Shitubu.

The Nanton Constituency has Alhassan Adam, Dr Mohammed Sherif Abdul – Halik, Alhaji Iddi Issah Fawan, Mohammed Abdul Malik Cheno, Abdul – Rahaman, and Zeinab Rosina.

Whiles Karaga has four namely; Alhassan S. Dandawa, Alhaji Zakaria Ibrahim AlabanI, Abukari Abdulai Bawa, Dr. Yahuza Issa. The rest are

Gushegu.

  4. Abdul- Wadudu Musah
  5. Salam Mahamadu

Tatale.

  1. Tampi Acheampong
  2. Ayo William Ntibe

Zabzugu.

  1. Alhassan Umar
  2. .Shei Fusheini
  3. Nuru Francis Taadigma
  4. George Taani

Bimbila.

  1. Lawyer Mahamadu Atta Nantogmah
  2. Mambuah Kobena Rockson
  3. Ben Tamanja

A statement signed by the Regional Communication Officer Sulemana M. Agitator commended all the constituency executives, members of constituency elections directorates and parliamentary candidate hopefuls for the decorous campaigns so far.

The statement charged them to maintain a positive attitude in the coming days as they head for vetting.
