The National Peace Council has relocated its head office to Roman Ridge, marking a significant step in enhancing its operations and capacity for conflict resolution.

Minister of the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, revealed that the Council’s former location on the island posed numerous challenges, including isolation and flooding during heavy rains.

“From where they were, they were the only persons living in the island that gives them so much scare, and when it rains, there is so much flooding there,” he said.

“But thankfully, in the last six months, they have been relocated to Roman Ridge to a more befitting space which will help them improve whatever they are doing there.”

In addition to the move, the Council has inaugurated the Savannah and Ahafo Regional Peace Councils, thereby expanding the regional peace architecture and mediation capacity across the country.

The Council has also established local and community peace committees in conflict-prone areas, particularly across the five northern regions, despite facing various challenges.
