National mourning continues as more Ghanaians honour helicopter crash victims

A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held today, August 8, at the Jubilee House, bringing together Ghanaians from all walks of life in a collective tribute to the eight victims of the recent military helicopter crash.

Open to the public, the ceremony offered a dignified space for mourning, reflection, and national solidarity.

The event drew a wide range of attendees, including religious leaders, senior government officials, military personnel, family members of the deceased, and members of the public, all united by a shared sense of grief and respect.

Among the notable figures present were Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu, Spokesperson of the National Chief Imam; the Presidential Advisor on the 24-hour Economy, Goosie Tanoh; the acting Chief Justice, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie; the President of Ghana Journalists Association, Albert Dwumfour, amongst others.

Wreaths were laid in honour of Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, NDC Vice Chairman and former Kumasi mayor, Dr Samuel Sarpong, Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, and former parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East and Deputy NADMO Director, Samuel Aboagye.
