My style of blogging has opened international doors – Kobby Kyei

Celebrated Ghanaian blogger and humanitarian, Kobby Kyei, has revealed that his decision to focus on human-interest and developmental stories has earned him international recognition and opened doors beyond Ghana’s borders.

Speaking in an interview with Irene Adubea Aning on The Career Trail programme, he explained that while many bloggers focused on entertainment and celebrity gossip, he carved out a unique niche in humanitarian storytelling.

If you check my Wikipedia, it says I once started as an entertainment blogger but now I’m doing humanitarian work, because I needed to find a niche for myself,” he said.

“Apart from Joy News, Adom TV and a few traditional media, which blogger was going into rural communities to tell the stories of children and deprived communities? No one. I had to create that space on social media,” he continued.

He said his motivation was tied to the idea of leaving a digital footprint.

“If I ask you about your grandmother’s mother, you may not know her. But imagine if in their time there was social media, we would all know our great-great-grandparents because their lives would be a search away. But things are not the same now. In our era, everything we do is going to remain because of the presence of social media. So, for instance, my children’s children will just search and see what their grandfather did. So everything I do on social media today, someday, my children’s children will also know. That’s why I have decided to document my life in a positive light,” he explained.
