MTN Group has supported the 2025 Economic Governance School training for public officials, held last week at the Fiesta Royal Hotel in Accra. The programme brought together participants from Ghana, South Africa, and Kenya.

The initiative is a collaborative effort between the National School of Government (NSG) in South Africa, the Kenya School of Government (KSG), and the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). It aims to strengthen senior leadership in the public sector and promote inclusive economic governance across Africa.

Participants—including legislators, politicians, and senior public service officials—engaged in peer learning, policy dialogue, and institutional exchange. As part of the weeklong activities, the group visited the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, which is responsible for coordinating the creation of a single continental market for goods and services.

During the training, which coincided with MTN’s annual “21 Days of Y’ello Care” campaign, participants also toured the MTN Ghana-supported Opportunities Industrialisation Centre (OICG), which offers vocational, digital, and entrepreneurial skills training for young people.

MTN Ghana CEO Stephen Blewett and CIO Bernard Acquah joined Morafo in engaging on panels that explored the intersection of technology and governance. Discussions focused on the digital transformation of public services and the role of AI and infrastructure investment in supporting state capacity and economic inclusion.

MTN Ghana CEO Stephen Blewett, Chief Information Officer Bernard Acquah, and MTN Group’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer Nompilo Morafo joined panel discussions on technology and governance.
