The South-West Business District of MTN Ghana has donated 30 hampers to  babies born on Christmas and Boxing Day at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital and Esikado Hospital in the Western Region

The gesture by the telecommunication giant to the two public hospitals includes diapers, baby lotion, wipes, soaks, feeding bottles, and baby oil among others.

The donations which began some 12 years ago have become an annual ritual that intends to put smiles on the faces of the mothers and the babies.

It also forms part of an effort to make mothers feel loved as the world marks ‘Boxing Day’ as a day of receiving and giving out gifts.

He said it is fulfilling to know that they can meet the needs of the mothers by supporting them with the items, adding that, MTN Ghana will continue to render its support to show appreciation to the communities.

The Administrator at Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Michael Danso, was thankful to MTN Ghana for the gesture, saying it will go a long way to help the nursing mothers.

He mentioned that it is the wish of the hospital to be financially empowered to provide such basic needs for the mothers as some are in dire need of them to be able to cater for their newborn babies, adding that, MTN coming in to help is very much appreciated.

He asked MTN to continue to undertake this project as it shows how responsible a corporate entity MTN is.

Mr Danso appealed to MTN to provide the hospital with modern delivery beds.

The Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area, Nana Kobina Nketsiah, said it is always a joy to behold the gifts of God.

He stated that the pains women go through during labour emphasise why they should not be beaten but rather be appreciated and loved.

The mothers were happy with MTN Ghana for remembering them and their newborns this festive season. They asked God to bless and replenish them.
