The Governing Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi has appointed Mr. Benjamin Boampong Owusu as the new Registrar.
The appointment marks a significant milestone in Mr. Boampong Owusu’s distinguished career in higher education administration, spanning over a decade of service across multiple divisions of the university.
Mr. Owusu began his career at KNUST in April 2010 as an Assistant Registrar in the Registrar’s Office. He was later posted to the College of Engineering, where he oversaw student affairs, administrative operations, and academic event coordination.
His responsibilities included organizing matriculation ceremonies, career workshops, and examinations, as well as managing staff schedules and equipment logistics.
In 2015, Mr. Owusu transitioned to the Institute of Distance Learning (IDL) to support its growing student population. Later that year, he joined the Human Resource Development Division (HRDD), where he rose through the ranks to become Senior Assistant Registrar.
He was responsible for managing staff schedules, coordinating appointments and promotions, and serving on key university committees such as the University Appointments and Promotions Committee (UAPC) and the College Board.
