Kwame Governs Agbodza, the Member of Parliament for Adaklu and Chief Whip of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary caucus, has honoured teachers in the Adaklu District for their outstanding contributions to education.
The recognition took place during an awards ceremony held on Friday at Adaklu Waya, the district capital.
At the event, the MP presented various prizes to deserving educators, including deep freezers, table-top refrigerators, television sets, and laptop computers. The awardees were selected from different educational levels, ranging from kindergarten to Junior and Senior High Schools. Non-teaching staff were also recognised for their invaluable support.
In his address, Agbodza expressed heartfelt gratitude to the teachers and educational workers for their dedication and hard work, which he credited for the district’s notable progress in education. He particularly commended those who have accepted postings to remote areas, acknowledging their sacrifices in ensuring that education reaches even the most underserved communities.
The MP reiterated his commitment to further enhancing educational infrastructure and outcomes in the district. He assured the gathered audience that he would continue to prioritise education through sustained investments aimed at improving both facilities and educational attainment.
Togbe Katani, the representative of the Paramount Chief of the area and the Chief of Sofa, also expressed appreciation for Agbodza’s efforts. He thanked the MP for initiating the teacher awards scheme and for his ongoing work to eliminate the practice of holding classes under trees in the district.
