A mother and her two children are battling for their lives at the Tema General Hospital after a tragic fire destroyed their home in the Tema Industrial Area on 1st June, 2025.
Madam Remember Dorlevi, a 32-year-old mother, and her two daughters, aged 3 and 7, sustained severe burns when their wooden structure residence was completely engulfed in flames in what is suspected to be an act of arson.
According to the family, they believe the fire was deliberately started by an unknown individual who allegedly poured petrol on the structure and set it ablaze.
While Madam Dorlevi and her children remain in the hospital receiving critical care, her husband—who sustained only minor burns—has since been discharged. The family, however, is facing severe financial difficulties in meeting the rising cost of treatment.
“My husband is doing his best, but we have no support from anywhere else,” she said in tears.
“Even today, I was asked to pay GH¢4,000.00 for my wound treatment, but I couldn’t raise the amount, so my wounds were left untreated.”
Madam Dorlevi is appealing to the general public, charitable individuals, and benevolent organisations to come to their aid. She says time is of the essence, as their condition requires urgent and continuous medical attention.
Anyone willing to assist can contact the family or visit them at the Tema General Hospital for more information.
