A nationwide tracking survey by Global InfoAnalytics suggests that many Ghanaians believe their living conditions are better now than they were a year ago, pointing to growing public confidence as the 2026 national budget takes effect.
According to the poll released on Monday, December 29, 56 percent of respondents said their standard of living has improved over the past 12 months. Another 27 percent reported no change, while 12 percent said their situation has worsened.
Five percent said they were unsure. Looking ahead, optimism remains high, with 70 percent of voters expecting further improvements in their living standards in 2026. Only 18 percent expressed a negative outlook.
Public reaction to the 2026 budget presented by Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson was largely positive. The survey found that 66 percent of respondents are satisfied with the budget, while 18 percent expressed dissatisfaction. The remaining 16 percent said they felt neutral.
The poll also captured views on governance and accountability. Just over half of respondents, 56 percent, believe the situation regarding corruption has improved, while 60 percent think the government is doing enough to address the issue.
On illegal mining, widely referred to as galamsey, 47 percent said the problem has not worsened under the Mahama administration, including 43 percent of respondents in mining communities.
Overall, the results indicate that recent economic policies, alongside governance and anti-corruption measures, are gaining public approval and strengthening confidence in the country’s overall direction.
