Members of the Minority in Parliament staged a dramatic walkout on Thursday, July 24, moments before the Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, was scheduled to deliver the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review.
According to the caucus, the rerun was marred by voter intimidation, acts of violence, and the deliberate misuse of state security forces actions they say constitute a dangerous affront to the country’s democratic foundations.
Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, declared that the group could not, in good conscience, lend legitimacy to the budget proceedings while remaining silent on what they characterised as “a grave assault on democratic processes”.
