Methodist Guild solicits support to complete Offinso prayer retreat and recreational centre

The Methodist Guild is making a passionate appeal to members of the Methodist Church – Ghana and the public to support the completion of its prayer retreat and recreational center currently under construction at Offinso in the Ashanti Region.

The project is expected to serve as a center for prayer retreats, spiritual renewal, and recreation for members of the Methodist Guild and the larger Christian community upon completion.

The 10-million-project, sited on a 4-acre land, will feature a three-storey multipurpose building with a hostel.

A foundation stone has been laid for the construction of the edifice.

Immediate past Chaplain of the Guild and now Bishop of Sefwi Bekwai, Rt. Rev. John Kwasi Baidoo highlighted the project’s importance to the church.

He appealed to individuals, societies, and dioceses within the Methodist church to contribute towards the completion of the building.

“We’ve reached a stage where we need help from the Connectional Methodist Church and individual donors. Anyone who has cement, iron rods, gravels, or sand is encouraged to come to our aid so that this project will be completed once and for all,” he said.

The Methodist Guild held its 19th Biennial and 30th Delegates Conference in Kumasi, drawing members from the societies and dioceses across the country for a spiritual encounter.

Speaking on the sidelines of the conference, the clergy expressed distraught and concerned over the spate of moral decadence witnessed among the youth and teenagers in the second-cycle level of education.

Commenting on the recent alleged sexual misconduct in some schools, the Bishop of Kumasi North Diocese of the Methodist Church, Rt. Rev. Samson Obeng Agyei attributed the issue to moral decay in society.

He cited parental neglect and reluctant support from religious bodies to instill moral uprightness and discipline in the younger generation.

“The sexual immorality being reported in some schools is unfortunate. Parents and the church must work together to train children in a way that pleases God,” he stated.

The Bishop urged members of the Church to continue promoting unity, discipleship, and moral uprightness within the church and society.

“We encourage mission schools to open their doors to ministers and religious groups to help prepare the young ones for the future,” he noted.

The theme for the conference emphasized the importance of grounding one’s faith in scripture, encouraging members to read, reflect, and live by the Word of God in their daily lives.
