MAX and Bolt announce strategic partnership to power electric mobility and vehicle ownership in Ghana

MAX, a leading mobility solutions provider, and Bolt, Ghana’s leading mobility platform, today announced a landmark strategic partnership designed to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and expand access to sustainable, affordable vehicle ownership for drivers across the country.

The collaboration brings together MAX’s expertise in delivering high-quality, cost-efficient electric vehicles and value-added services with Bolt’s extensive network of professional driver partners. Together, the organisations aim to reshape urban mobility and support Ghana’s transition to cleaner transportation solutions.

The partnership places drivers at the centre, offering them unprecedented access to sustainable and economically viable vehicle solutions. Through the collaboration, drivers on Bolt’s platform will have a clear pathway to vehicle ownership, enabling them to transition from a flexible subscription model to owning high-quality electric bikes that can support long-term economic stability. The model also introduces enhanced affordability, ensuring a lower total cost of vehicle access and operation, ultimately improving drivers’ profitability.

In addition, drivers will benefit from MAX’s comprehensive suite of value-added services, including insurance, helmets, maintenance, and customer support, designed to keep them safe, productive, and protected on the road.

Speaking during the announcement, Enoch Amobire, Operations Manager at Bolt Ghana, said: “This partnership marks a major milestone in our efforts to build a more sustainable and economically inclusive mobility ecosystem in Ghana. By working with MAX, we are offering drivers access to affordable electric vehicles while empowering them with real pathways to ownership. This collaboration brings us closer to our long-term goal of reducing emissions and improving the overall driver experience on the Bolt platform.”

For Bolt, the integration of MAX’s electric fleet strengthens its commitment to operational efficiency and environmental sustainability. The partnership provides Bolt with a reliable supply of modern, sustainable, and affordable electric vehicles.

MAX, on the other hand, will leverage this collaboration to scale its financial inclusion model. By accessing a larger pool of drivers,

MAX will be able to refine and strengthen its credit-scoring systems, enabling the company to design more flexible subscription plans for drivers who may have been excluded by traditional credit frameworks. This approach positions MAX to expand electric mobility access to a wider demographic of drivers on Bolt’s platform.

Commenting on the partnership, Abolaji Odukoya, Country Operations Manager at MAX Ghana, stated: “Partnering with Bolt allows us to scale clean mobility while unlocking real financial opportunities for thousands of riders. By combining MAX’s EV and credit innovation with Bolt’s extensive driver network, we’re making electric vehicle ownership more accessible and affordable, thereby empowering drivers to build sustainable livelihoods and shaping a more inclusive future for Ghana’s transport ecosystem.”

This partnership marks a significant step toward a more sustainable and inclusive transport ecosystem in Ghana. By combining MAX’s electric mobility expertise with Bolt’s strong driver network, both companies are working to create long-term economic opportunities for drivers while shaping the future of urban mobility in the country.

MAX is Africa’s leading EV mobility and financing company, delivering electric vehicles, battery-swapping infrastructure, and mobility management technology across multiple African markets, including Nigeria, Ghana, and Cameroon.

On the other hand, Bolt is a European shared mobility platform founded in 2013.
