Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu is ready to prove the allegations he has levelled against Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, his lawyer Marcellinus Biah has affirmed.
Kpebu has intensified his criticism of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) following his recent arrest at the institution’s premises.
He had visited the OSP to assist with investigations into corruption allegations he filed against Agyebeng but was detained after a disagreement with officers.
He was later granted bail after meeting the requirements.
Speaking on Wednesday, December 3, Kpebu revealed that he has compiled more than 15 allegations against the Special Prosecutor and remains committed to pursuing them through appropriate legal processes.
He further argued that his arrest reflects broader concerns about the agency’s competence and professional conduct under Agyebeng.
His lawyer, Marcellinus Biah, told Citi FM on Thursday, December 4, that Kpebu is fully aware of the implications of his claims and is prepared to substantiate them.
“Martin is a lawyer and understands the consequences of making false allegations. I strongly believe he has adequate evidence to back the statements he has made,” Biah said.
He added that Kpebu plans to submit a formal petition calling for the removal of the Special Prosecutor.
“We expect that petition to be ready by Monday. Martin has been clear from the start that he is ready to prove his case. His only concern is that the OSP cannot receive complaints against its own head. That is why he intends to present a petition to the president to initiate the appropriate procedure,” Mr Biah explained.
