Man remanded over workplace stabbing

An Accra Circuit Court has remanded a 51‑year‑old aluminium fabricator accused of stabbing a colleague who allegedly prevented him from stealing from their employer.

Bismarck Marfo, who pleaded not guilty, has been denied bail twice following the victim’s surgery and hospitalisation.

Police Chief Inspector Rosemond Anyane told the Court, presided over by Madam Basilia Adjei‑Tawiah, that the complainant, Mr Alfred Atiga, 30, is a private security officer with Fabrisco Builders Company Limited and a resident of Sowutuom.

She said Marfo is an aluminium fabricator with Ace Cladding Company Limited and resides at Accra Newtown.

Ace Cladding, she noted, is a subletting company of Fabrisco Builders, and both firms are constructing an office complex for the Ghana Revenue Authority at Kanda.

The prosecution said that on October 28, 2025, at about 1000 hours, both men were on duty at the construction site when Atiga saw Marfo leaving with off‑cut aluminium products belonging to Fabrisco Builders.

Chief Inspector Anyane said Atiga confronted Marfo and instructed him to return the items, but the accused became offended and insisted on taking them away, leading to an exchange of words.

The Court heard that Marfo eventually returned the items but armed himself with a sharp implement and suddenly attacked the complainant, stabbing him in the left side of the stomach, causing a deep cut.

The prosecution said Atiga also sustained slash wounds on his left hand while attempting to block another stab aimed at his abdomen.

Chief Inspector Anyane said Atiga for help, and as colleagues approached, Marfo fled but was pursued, arrested and handed over to the Police.

She said Atiga was rushed to the Emergency Unit of the 37 Military Hospital, where he was admitted and later taken to the theatre for clinical attention.

He is currently on admission responding to treatment.

The prosecution said Marfo admitted the offences in his cautioned statement in the presence of an independent witness.

Chief Inspector Anyane said after investigations, Marfo was charged and brought before the Court.
