Madina Member of Parliament, Francis Sosu, is demanding that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) be summoned before Parliament to account for the detention of private legal practitioner, Martin Kpebu.
In an interview with TV3, Mr Sosu condemned the detention as unacceptable and insisted that the OSP must justify its actions.
“The OSP must be hauled to Parliament to explain why it detained Martin Kpebu. This act should not be condoned,” he said.
Mr Kpebu was reportedly detained in connection with an ongoing investigation.
The Madina MP, along with other critics, has raised concerns about the legality and transparency surrounding the OSP’s conduct, warning that such actions risk eroding public confidence in law enforcement institutions.
He emphasised that Parliament must exercise strong oversight over the OSP to ensure accountability and protect democratic checks and balances.
According to him, no state agency should operate outside the confines of the law, and public institutions must answer to both the legislature and the citizens they serve.
