The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, has urged Ghanaians to embrace 2026 with renewed purpose, unity, and a strong commitment to national development.
In his New Year message to the nation, the Minister extended warm greetings to traditional authorities, religious leaders, sector stakeholders, and the general public, describing the season as a time of hope, rebirth, and reflection.
Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim noted that the just-ended Christmas season, which commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ, remains one of humanity’s strongest symbols of hope and divine restoration. He stressed that beyond the celebrations, the true significance of the season lies in carrying forward its values of grace, peace, and humility into the New Year.
According to him, these values underpin the government’s “Reset Agenda”, which seeks to chart a fresh course for Ghana through accountability, fiscal discipline, and stronger collaboration with traditional and religious leaders in national development.
He emphasised that the Ministry is committed to ensuring that the reset agenda is felt at the grassroots level, particularly within districts and traditional areas, through the empowerment of local communities and inclusive governance.
The Minister expressed optimism that by aligning governance with shared national values, Ghana can achieve greater equity, stability, and prosperity.
“As we enter 2026, let us do so with the conviction that our best days are ahead,” he said, calling on all Ghanaians to work collectively towards national renewal.
He concluded by wishing citizens a peaceful and productive New Year and invoked blessings for the nation.
