Lewis Appiagyei presents BP Pro Series trophy to the NSA

British-Ghanaian racing driver Lewis Appiagyei paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) of Ghana to discuss the development of motorsport and Ghana’s growing role in the global racing community.

During the visit, Lewis, the 2024/2025 BP Pro Series Champion, presented his trophy to the Director General in recognition of Ghana’s support for his journey. He shared updates on his racing progress, his advancement through the FIA development pathway, and his ambition to compete in Formula 3.

Lewis was accompanied by his father, Anthony Appiagyei, who expressed gratitude to the NSA for the warm reception and continued encouragement for Ghana’s emerging motorsport talent.

Also present at the meeting were Samuel M. Opoku-Agyemang, President of the Motorsport Federation of Ghana (MFG), and Yaw Kusi Gyamfi, Chief Operating Officer of the NSA. Opoku-Agyemang briefed the Director General on the ongoing collaboration between the MFG, the NSA, and Karting Africa toward establishing Ghana’s first ultra-modern go-karting facility.

The proposed facility is set to become a regional hub for motorsport, combining competitive karting, recreational experiences, and STEM-based educational programs. It will include e-sports and SIM racing components to expand youth engagement and create career pathways in motorsport and technology. The initiative is also expected to boost Ghana’s tourism industry, positioning the country as a modern motorsport and recreational destination.

The Director General commended Lewis for his achievements, describing him as a source of inspiration for Ghanaian youth. He assured him of the Authority’s full support, working closely with the Motorsport Federation of Ghana to strengthen motorsport infrastructure and youth participation nationwide.

Lewis concluded the visit by presenting his championship trophy and a signed portrait featuring himself with Formula 1 legend Sir Lewis Hamilton to the Director General, symbolizing both gratitude and a shared vision for Ghana’s motorsport future.
