Let's prove our readiness power through deeds, not words – Afenyo-Markin to NPP faithful

Minority Leader and Effutu MP, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to shift their focus from post-election sympathy to deliberate action as the party charts a path toward recovery after its 2024 electoral defeat.

In a Christmas message circulated on December 25, 2025, Mr Afenyo-Markin reflected on the loss and challenged party faithful to extract meaningful lessons from the experience, stressing that unity must be the cornerstone of the NPP’s rebuilding efforts.

“My dear patriots, the time for sympathy has passed, and the time for action has now arrived,” he said.

He emphasised that internal cohesion is non-negotiable if the party hopes to regain public confidence and electoral strength.

According to him, unity is not merely a slogan but a principle that demands sacrifice and discipline.

“As a party, we should have learned an important lesson, which is that unity is worth fighting for and sacrificing for. The pursuit of unity leads to victory,” he stated.

The Minority Leader noted that the NPP stands at a defining moment in its history, adding that the attitude and resolve of its members in this period will determine the party’s future direction and prospects.

Addressing recurring public doubts about the NPP’s capacity to govern, Mr Afenyo-Markin challenged members to respond through conduct rather than rhetoric.

“Time after time, observers have questioned whether our party is ready for power. Let us prove to them that we have an answer, and that answer is a resounding yes — not yes by mouth, but through our acts and conduct,” he said.

With the party’s flagbearer primaries on the horizon, he appealed for respect for party traditions and values, urging members to protect the legacy built by past leaders.

“As we prepare for our upcoming flagbearer primaries, let us treat our party and its traditions as sacred. What our forebearers put together with their sweat and blood, let no party member put asunder,” he added.
