Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has encouraged the youth of Ghana to embody the principles of the late President, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, by committing to servant leadership, democratic discipline, and moral integrity.
Delivering his remarks as Chairman of the 13th J.E.A. Mills Commemorative Lecture, Mr. Debrah paid tribute to the former president, describing him as calm, full of strength, ethical leadership, and patriotic humility.
He urged young people to look beyond political ambition and instead prepare themselves to lead through service and honesty.

“To the youth, leadership is not a loud ambition, it is a quiet preparation. Be ready to serve with integrity, not just to lead with titles,” he stated.
Mr. Debrah noted that the Fourth Republic has been shaped by figures like President Mills, who championed progress through peace and transformation through truth.
He cautioned against allowing Prof Mills’ legacy to become mere nostalgia, calling instead for it to serve as a blueprint for Ghana’s democratic renewal.
“We must also ignite a national consciousness among our youth, not just to inherit power, but to earn the trust of the people by walking in the path of Professor Mills’ vision, honesty, and humanity,” he added.

The event also featured a keynote address by former Electoral Commission Chairperson, Charlotte Osei, who spoke on the theme “The Man, The Teacher, and The President”.
The Chief of Staff concluded by urging the younger generation to rise beyond partisanship and commit to transformational leadership that puts national unity and purpose above all else.
“President Mills was not only a leader; he was a conscience. His legacy must guide our next generation through the fog of partisanship into the light of national purpose,” he said.
