The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has paid glowing tribute to Lance Corporal Collins Agyapong Safo, the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) soldier who died in the line of duty during an operation in Obuasi.

Lance Corporal Safo, who held the rank of Private at the time of his death, died on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, following an accident during a sanctioned NAIMOS operation against illegal mining activities.

He said the passing of the young soldier remains a heavy blow to President John Dramani Mahama, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, and the country at large.

The Minister pledged that the government would continue to intensify the fight against illegal mining in honour of Lance Corporal Safo and other security personnel who have lost their lives in the national effort to combat galamsey.
