Former President John Agyekum Kufuor strongly endorsed Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, for the 2024 elections.
In a video message during the NPP’s manifesto launch in Takoradi on August 18, 2024, Kufuor described Dr Bawumia as a “man of destiny” uniquely suited to lead Ghana.
Kufuor praised Dr Bawumia for his deep expertise, leadership qualities, and understanding of geopolitics, highlighting his potential to drive Ghana’s digital transformation.
“I believe in the man of the moment–the world is discussing digitalization. Bawumia is cut for the occasion, custom-made,” Kufuor stated.
He emphasized Bawumia’s political background and loyalty to the party, noting these attributes as reasons why he is well-positioned to lead.
According to Kufuor, Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy represents a strategic choice for Ghana.
“We are presenting a custom-made candidate to Ghana, a candidate that understands geopolitics and whose policies will foster sound relationships and advance the country’s interests,” he said.
“He’s a man of destiny and a very insightful, humble person.”
Kufuor expressed confidence that the NPP’s manifesto, underpinned by Bawumia’s vision, would resonate with Ghanaians.
He urged the electorate to trust Bawumia to effectively address the nation’s challenges.
“The manifesto our candidate will present will be accepted by all Ghanaians, with the hope that he is the man of the moment,” Kufuor concluded.
