The Abuamang-Acha Abslor Youth group of Dambai in the Krachi East Municipality has petitioned the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service and other stakeholders, for the immediate removal of Mr Philip-Solo Atitsogbui, Krachi East Municipal Education Director from post.
The group presented copies of their petition to the Oti Regional Education Director, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Krachi East, Member of Parliament (MP) of the Krachi East constituency, and Traditional Leaders.
The petition, signed by its top executives Mr Malachi Mensah, Mr Clement K. Mensah, Mr Michael Mampah, Mr Anthony Mensah and others, and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) cited several reasons for their request.
The petitioners alleged that Mr Atitsogbui interferes in the work of unit heads, imposition of schemes of work on headteachers without consultation and extortion of money from study leave applicants and those seeking release.
The statement said these actions have disrupted the smooth management of schools, lowered staff morale and created tension among educational stakeholders in the municipality.
It again said the director has made his personal driver redundant and is now using an official vehicle assigned to him for personal use.
The petitioners alleged that Mr Atitsogbui’s actions contradicted best practices, undermined instructional independence and created unnecessary pressure on school leadership.
They again claimed that the director’s actions have discouraged qualified teachers from applying for study leave with pay due to demands for unauthorised payments.
The petitioners, comprising teachers, parents, and community members, were seeking the appointment of a competent, ethical, and community-oriented administrator to restore confidence in the educational system within Krachi East.
They also expressed trust that the appropriate authorities will act swiftly in the interest of teachers, learners and the future of education in the area.
The petitioner’s highlights concern about the Director’s continued stay in office, which posed a threat to quality education delivery and harmonious stakeholder collaboration in the Municipality.
Speaking to GNA, Mr Atitsogbui has denied any petition seeking his removal from office.
“My office has not received any petition seeking my removal, I’m not aware of any such petition,” the Director disclosed.
The ‘Abuamang-Acha Abslor’ Youth of Dambai, who submitted the petition, called on the authorities to take immediate action to address the situation and ensure that the education system in Krachi East was protected and improved.
