Kpando Headmaster installed Tsyome Divisional Chief under the stool name Togbe Boateng III

The Headmaster of Kpando Senior High School, Charles Evans Apreku, has been installed as the Divisional Chief for Tsyome Sabadu in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region.

He goes by the stool name Togbe Boateng III, and would also serve as the Right Wing Chief for the Tsyome Traditional Area.

His coronation ceremony exhibited the unique culture and customs of the Chiefs and people of Tsyome Traditional Area drawing patrons from far and near.

He ascends to the throne, which was vacant for about three decades, with diverse knowledge and expertise in education and community development, among others.

In his inaugural address, Togbe Boateng III promised to bring his expertise to bear as he leads the Tsyome Sabadu community.

“You all know that I am a teacher, so I will collaborate with the other chiefs towards promoting education in the area”, he said.

He expressed worry about the unemployment rate in the area where residents survive on small-scale farming, petty trading, and artisanal jobs, with a minute of the population having formal jobs.

He hinted at leveraging his network to undertake skills development training among other initiatives to create employment for the masses to drive socioeconomic development.

“A challenge I have witnessed is the lack of jobs and low economic activities in the area. We will also work on job creation to enhance the livelihoods of our people”, he assured.

The Paramount Chief of Tsyome, Togbe Adom Drayi II, asserted that Togbe Boateng III’s enstoolment depicts a good omen for the traditional area given his experience and network.

He believes he has the capabilities to drive an accelerated development agenda in the area to raise the living standards of the people.

“I believe we have selected the right person to occupy the stool looking at the caliber of people who have attended his coronation ceremony. Political heads from both the North Dayi and Kpando Constituency, educators, and many more”, he said.

He entreated the newly installed Chief to work in solidarity with the traditional authorities for the common good of the people, the traditional area, and the district.

“I look forward to you working with the other chiefs in unity to harness development”, he stressed.

The North Day District Chief Executive, Ernest Adevor, bemoaned that the numerous chieftaincy disputes in his jurisdiction are retarding the progress of development.

According to him, it has become difficult to engage traditional authorities on the district’s development agenda and seek their collaboration because of the divided fronts in the various traditional areas.

“Chieftaincy conflicts have become a burden to the government. This will not bring development to the area, so we have to eschew such conflicts”, he grieved.

He identified the inability of some traditional areas to document their chieftaincy lineage as the major cause of these conflicts, either due to misinformation or careful orchestration to distort history.

“What we lack is documenting the chieftaincy lineage, so we must begin to do so to prevent future conflicts”, he advised.

The Volta Regional Director of Education, Francis Agbemadi, congratulated Togbe Boateng on his new role and promised his outfit’s cooperation to achieve his desired objectives, including improving education.

The Volta Regional Vice Chairman of the Conference of Headmasters of Senior High Schools, Courage Meteku, assured the union’s unflinching support in Togbe Boateng’s new endeavor.
