The Paramount Chief of the Komenda Traditional Area, Okatakyi Komeh VIII, has passionately appealed to the Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Agbodza, for asphalt roads.
The chief urged the Minister to ensure that the Komenda Junction to Komenda township road, which is currently under construction, be fully asphalted.

The chief made this call during a visit by the Roads Minister and his deputy, Hon. Alhassan Suhuyini, accompanied by the Central Regional Minister and other officials, as they paid a courtesy call on the Komenda Traditional Council and inspected ongoing road projects in the area.

According to Okatakyi Komeh VIII, the stretch that runs through the Komenda Sugar Factory is of critical economic importance and must be constructed to withstand the weight of heavy-duty vehicles transporting raw materials and finished goods.

He warned against subjecting the community to substandard work, which he dismissed as a “Saa Petsi road” (a local term for inferior road projects).

The chief emphasised that the proper completion of the road is crucial for the revival of the Sugar Factory and the creation of employment opportunities for the youth in the area.
He also reminded the government of the Komenda people’s longstanding support for the NDC, calling for the road project to reflect their loyalty.

In response, Roads Minister Governs Agbodza assured the people of Komenda that the project would be completed to the required standard.

He acknowledged that funding challenges had delayed several road works but pledged that contractors would be paid once funds are mobilized by the government.

The minister also noted that completing the road, which leads to the hometown of Ghana’s first female Vice President, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, holds national significance and would help boost trade, commerce, and connectivity in the area.

The MP for KEEA, Hon. Samuel Atta Mills, who was part of the entourage, further assured residents that efforts were underway to fix other deplorable roads across the municipality as part of the government’s road infrastructure plans.
