KNUST College of Health Sciences honours Dr Kingsley Agyemang for contributions to education and health

The College of Health Sciences (CoHS) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has recognised Hon. Dr Kingsley Agyemang, Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, for his outstanding contribution to education and health development in Ghana.

The recognition was conferred during the College’s 3rd Excellence Awards held at the Great Hall of KNUST on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. The annual event celebrates individuals and groups whose work has significantly advanced the growth, impact, and visibility of the College.

Dr Agyemang received the Exceptional Individual Support and Contribution Award for his commitment to academic excellence, mentorship, and philanthropy in the health sciences.

A voluntary lecturer with the Department of Public Health at KNUST, Dr Agyemang has supported numerous educational and health initiatives over the years. Earlier this year, he offered financial assistance to four postgraduate students who were struggling to pay their tuition fees.

The beneficiaries, David Mensah, Abigail Boadi, Maame Ama Poku, and Abigail A. Yankyerah, are pursuing postgraduate programmes in Health Services Planning and Management and Health Systems Research and Management. The gesture, lauded by both students and faculty, was described as a testament to Dr Agyemang’s commitment to empowering young people through education.

The Dean of the School of Public Health praised Dr Agyemang for his consistent dedication to academic and human development, noting that his mentorship and generosity continue to inspire both students and staff. His contributions, the Dean said, reflect the university’s vision of producing globally competitive graduates driven by a spirit of service.

Receiving the award, Dr Agyemang expressed appreciation to the College for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to educational support.

“This recognition inspires me to keep investing in people. When we support one student, we help shape the future of our nation,” he said.

The 3rd CoHS Excellence Awards brought together university leadership, faculty, students, and guests to celebrate excellence, service, and innovation across the College.
