According to a Ghana Police Service Press statement on Thursday, September 23, the reported missing pregnant woman in Takoradi was not pregnant and staged her kidnap.

This statement has drawn sympathisers to the residence of the alleged victim as they do not agree with the police report because they believe the victim was pregnant because they are witnesses and can testify to her pregnancy.

Skyy News crew was at the residence to interview the family of the 28-year-old alleged kidnap victim, Josephine Payin Mensah and also monitor the atmosphere after the press statement by the police.

The sister of the victim speaking to Skyy Power 93.5FM claimed, during the victim’s routine morning walk, she took along her Maternity and National Health Insurance cards because she feared she might go into labour at any moment in time, so she found it necessary to do so.

However, after the victim’s release, she only returned with her National Health Insurance Card, without the inclusion of the Maternity Card, claiming the kidnappers took it along with them during her release. This was according to what Josephine told the family.

Also, investigation is still ongoing as the police have interdicted some three (3) persons to bring out some facts in the case.
