Over 1,000 people gathered at the Kumasi Central Mosque, Akwatia Line, for this year’s EIDFEST, a special foodbank initiative organised by the KGL Foundation in celebration of Eid.

The event was held to support individuals and families in need during the holy season of Ramadan. Attendees received packed food and drinks, with the option to eat at the venue or take the items home.

The Foundation made sure everyone present was catered for in a respectful and festive atmosphere.

EIDFEST wasn’t just about food. The event featured exciting side attractions like musical performances, dancing activities, and interactive games, all of which created a vibrant and joyful mood.

People from all walks of life came together, celebrating not just the season but also the unity within the community.

The event was honoured by the presence of traditional authorities, including chiefs and queen mothers, as well as the chief Imam of the Kumasi Central Mosque and other dignitaries.

Their participation reflected the importance of collaboration and cultural respect.

Speaking on behalf of the CEO of the KGL Foundation, Mr. Elliot Dadey, the Foundation’s Programs Manager, Nii Ankonu Annorbah-Sarpei, shared a message of community and compassion: “EIDFEST is about more than giving food.

“It’s about creating a space where people feel seen, supported, and celebrated—especially during such a meaningful time of year.”

The Foundation received support from one of its funded partners, Muslim Family Counselling Services, who assisted with planning and logistics for the event.

Related to this initiative, the KGL Foundation also extended its support to the Muslim community in Accra.

A cash donation was made to the National Chief Imam to support Eid celebrations, demonstrating the Foundation’s national commitment to religious harmony and inclusion.

In addition, the Foundation donated essential food items and toiletries to the Rahmah Orphanage, also located in Accra, to ensure the children enjoyed the Eid season with dignity and care.

EIDFEST 2025 is part of the KGL Foundation’s broader goal of uplifting communities through initiatives that focus on empowerment, collaboration and innovation.
