"Kennedy Agyapong will end youth crossing the desert and sea for jobs abroad" - Former Deputy Finance Minister

A former Deputy Minister of Finance and a key member of the Kennedy Agyapong campaign team, Dr. Alex Ampaabeng has made a passionate appeal for support for the flagbearer hopeful, saying only Kennedy Agyapong has the courage and practical vision to end youth unemployment in Ghana.

Speaking to the media during Kennedy Agyapong’s Volta Regional campaign tour, the former Deputy Minister expressed deep concern over the growing desperation among Ghana’s youth, who risk their lives through the desert and across the Mediterranean Sea in search of jobs in Europe and the Middle East.

He described this painful trend as a national tragedy that has cost countless young lives and exposed many Ghanaian women to abuse and humiliation abroad.

“It is heartbreaking to see our young men dying in the desert and our young women suffering as housemaids in some Arab countries, where many face mistreatment and unimaginable hardship,” he said.

“This must stop — and it will stop with Kennedy Agyapong.”

Dr. Ampaabeng explained that Kennedy Agyapong’s economic vision, known as Kenomics, focuses on practical solutions to youth unemployment through industrialization, entrepreneurship, and value addition.

“Youth unemployment rests with Ken,” he declared. “He understands what it means to build from nothing. His leadership will empower local industries, open factories, and create jobs that restore dignity to the Ghanaian youth.”

He added that under Kennedy Agyapong’s leadership, Ghana will transition from an import-dependent economy to one that thrives on local production and exports, ensuring that young people can find meaningful work in every region, including Volta.

“Ken believes our youth are not lazy; they are simply waiting for leadership that believes in them,” he stated. “With his honesty, discipline, and vision, Ghana will finally become a land of opportunity for its own children.”

The message was received with warm applause and emotional approval from delegates, who praised Kennedy Agyapong’s sincerity and focus on real solutions.

The former Deputy Minister concluded with a moving appeal: “The days of our young men dying in the desert and our young women suffering abuse abroad must end. With Kennedy Agyapong, that painful story will be history. Ghana will rise again,  strong, united, and full of opportunity for its youth.”
