EC fears NDC over Ablekuma North electoral dispute – Kofi Bentil

‘Whether you boil it or fry it, the NDC will remove you’ – Kofi Bentil to EC commissioners

Let us rise above partisan politics to develop our district – DCE

Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Agyapong.

Businessman and failed New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong, has come under fire on social media for comments he made in a viral video, deemed a religious stereotype against former Vice President and 2024 NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The video, which has been widely circulated on social media, has the former MP averring that he should be elected NPP’s flagbearer for the 2028 elections because Christians did not vote for Bawumia in 2024, adding that he is the one who can bring the party back to power.

You have heard it, Ghanaians say if you bring Ken Agyapong in your search for power, they will vote for you. Do you want to wait for another 4 years or 8 years? Are you ready for that? Are you ready for that? Are you ready for that? Let us listen to what the grassroots are saying, let us listen to what Ghanaians are saying, Kennedy Agyapong said.

As he repeatedly asked his listeners whether they are ready for a supposed long wait for power, they responded ‘no’ each time.

He told his audience that he was being proverbial, and that the NPP is where it is now because when Christians spoke and were ignored, they voted to make their point.

The churches spoke. In this church where we are, they spoke. I am speaking in proverbially. The church spoke, but we did not listen, and that is what has landed us where we are today.

The former MP, known for his eccentric comments, has been accused of fanning divisive sentiments within the NPP, with his religious sentiments.

A number of social media users have expressed disappointment in him for his approach, which they say is inimical to party unity.

“Your attitude is what I hate. You couldn’t deliver your constituency. Tell us if Bawumia is the reason we lost most parliamentary seats,” a supporter of NPP, Lambon Augustina reported.

Another, Addo Frank, accused Kennedy Agyapong of shifting the attention of Ghanaians from the new D-levy the government has introduced to the internal NPP contest.

Many others also accused Kennedy Agyapong of hypocrisy, and reminded him of how he campaigned against his own party and how the National Democratic Congress used his own voice against the NPP.
