600 Kayayei Women Graduate with Vocational Skills in Empowerment Program
In a significant step towards economic empowerment, 600 women, part of the second cohort of the Kayayei Empowerment Program, graduated with vocational skills on July 25, 2024. The initiative, founded by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, aims to equip Kayayei women with skills in areas such as baking, bead making, and soap making, fostering economic independence and self-sufficiency.
The Kayayei Empowerment Program, an initiative led by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, celebrated a significant milestone with the graduation of its second cohort. On July 25, 2024, 600 women received training in various vocational skills, including baking, bead making, and soap making. This program aims to equip Kayayei women with the necessary skills to achieve economic independence and improve their quality of life.

The CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Mr. Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, expressed profound gratitude to the partners and stakeholders who played a pivotal role in the program’s success. He emphasized the importance of ongoing support and pledged to monitor the progress of the graduates as they transition into new entrepreneurial ventures.
Rashida Suleman Mohammed, a representative of the graduates, expressed heartfelt thanks to Vice President Bawumia for his unwavering support in empowering the Kayayei women. She highlighted the transformative impact of the skills acquired through the program, which have opened new opportunities for financial independence and personal growth.
The Kayayei Empowerment Program is part of a broader effort to address the socio-economic challenges faced by Kayayei women in Ghana.
