Karpowership Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing quality education and gender equality through a strategic engagement with the new leadership of the Ghana Commission for UNESCO.

The meeting, led by Sandra Amartikar Amarquaye, Corporate Communications Manager at Karpowership Ghana, alongside her team members Israel Norshie and  Jill Donkoh, was a courtesy call aimed at strengthening ongoing collaborations.

Discussions centred on joint initiatives to mark key global observances such as the International Day of Education and World Engineering Day, with a focus on empowering the youth through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

For the past four years, Karpowership Ghana has actively partnered with UNESCO in Ghana to commemorate these important days, using them as platforms to inspire young minds and promote sustainable development goals.

These include SDG 4 – Quality Education and SDG 5 – Gender Equality, which are at the heart of the company’s corporate social responsibility agenda.

“We believe that education and engineering are powerful tools to transform communities and build a sustainable future,” said Sandra Amarquaye.

“Our ongoing collaboration with UNESCO is a testament to our shared vision of creating opportunities for the next generation, especially girls and young women in STEM fields.”

Executive Secretary of the Ghana Commission for UNESCO, Dr. Osman T. Damba, expressed appreciation for the continued partnership and praised Karpowership Ghana for going beyond its core mandate.

“Karpowership Ghana continues to demonstrate what it means to be a responsible corporate citizen,” he said.

“You’re not just delivering power; you are empowering lives through education, engineering, and meaningful community interventions. This partnership is a strong example of how the private sector can support UNESCO’s mission for inclusive and sustainable development.”

The engagement signals a renewed commitment to expanding joint programmes that encourage youth participation, innovation, and gender inclusivity in the educational and energy sectors.

As a global energy company, Karpowership continues to invest in educational projects and mentorship initiatives in Ghana, contributing to national development through capacity building and empowerment.
