Karpowership Ghana has assured the public that there is no immediate threat of a power shutdown despite ongoing discussions with the government regarding accumulated debt.

Speaking in an interview with Joy Business, Sandra Amarquaye, Communication Manager for Karpowership Ghana, confirmed that the company has been in negotiations with the Ministry of Energy to address the outstanding financial obligations.

“We had a meeting with the Minister of Energy to bring to his attention the accumulated debt and engage in negotiations,” she stated.

Ms Amarquaye stated that discussions are still in progress and that the company remains committed to reaching a sustainable solution in collaboration with the government.

“Discussions are still ongoing, and there is no threat of a shutdown based on our engagement with the government,” she assured.

She further reaffirmed Karpowership Ghana’s commitment to its partnership with the country, stressing that both parties are working towards a mutually beneficial resolution.

“Our relationship with Ghana remains strong, and we remain committed to working collaboratively towards a sustainable solution,” Ms Amarquaye added.

Her comments come amid concerns about Ghana’s energy sector and the financial commitments required to sustain power supply agreements.

While the negotiations continue, Karpowership Ghana has made it clear that its operations will not be abruptly affected, easing fears of potential disruptions in power supply.
