Chief of staff of the Republic of Ghana, Julius Debrah, has on Thursday, August 14, presided over the closing ceremony of the African Political Parties Summit 2025.
The event which has brought together Political leaders from across Africa’s Political parties began on 12th August 2025, with the Vice President Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, opening the gathering on behalf of the President.
Held under the theme, ‘From Politics to Prosperity: strengthening inter-party collaboration for Africa’s Development and Economic Transformation’, the Summit has been a facilitating platform for the discussing of various issues confronting the African Political climate, having fostered several important discussions towards advancing the course of political Governance across Africa’s nations.
Additionally, the summit saw the signing of MoUs between the Africa Governance Centre and the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICCAP) on one hand as well as between the Africa Governance and the Permanent Conference of Political Parties of Latin America and the Caribbean (COPPPAL).
The Chief of Staff while addressing the gathering, admonished the delageys present at the summit to be proactive regarding the advancement of the interests of women and young people as the bedrock of development.
In his words, “We must be proactive in pushing the interests of women and the youth in politics”, he emphasized.
The closing ceremony witnessed the the adoption of the Accra Declaration on the African Political Parties Initiative; a bold commitment by African political parties to foster cooperation among political parties on the continent, harness technology for political party engagement, and promote opportunities for political parties on the African continent.
Among other dignitaries present at the closing ceremony, were the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, and Special Envoy to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The summit was also graced by the President of Sao Tome and Principe H.E. Carlos Manuel Vila Nova, Vice President of Ghana H.E. Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang and Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia, H.E. Adem Farah.
