Joy Prime, the vibrant entertainment television channel under the Multimedia Group Limited, has officially launched PrimeTime, a fresh and exciting weekly talk show hosted by the celebrated broadcaster and media personality, George Quaye.

Airing every Wednesday at 9 PM, PrimeTime promises no-holds-barred conversations with some of Ghana’s biggest names — and it delivered fireworks on its maiden edition with music icon Samini as its first guest.

Samini opens up on politics, justice, and national accountability

In a rare and candid interview, multiple award-winning dancehall star Samini praised Ghana’s current leadership trajectory under President John Mahama, particularly highlighting the renewed boldness of the judiciary in holding public officials accountable.

“As I speak to you currently, what we are seeing… I’m a happy Ghanaian,” he said.
“I like the fact that people are being brought to book and justice is being served — or it seems like justice is going to be served. Things like that, I am for.”

Samini’s comments mark a departure from his traditionally cautious political tone and reflect a growing appetite among public figures for principled discourse over political loyalty.

“I won’t sit here and be walking on eggshells because I think that maybe a certain favourite of mine might be in trouble,” he told Quaye.
“If you are put in public office, it’s your responsibility to serve Ghana and keep the public purse at heart. If you come and do anything dubious, you should be brought to book.”

When George Quaye asked him directly whether he thought President Mahama and the NDC government were doing a great job, Samini didn’t dodge.

“The President and judicial system are doing a good job so far. That’s the area I’ve seen a lot of action. Anything else, I think, is too early to throw too much light on.”

A platform for exciting conversations

PrimeTime is positioned as a new frontier in Ghanaian television — a stage where celebrities, creatives, leaders, and influencers come clean about the issues that matter. With George Quaye at the helm, viewers can expect riveting interviews, uncomfortable truths, and moments that spark national dialogue.

The show’s premiere was just that: bold, unfiltered, and timely.

Despite his praise for the current administration, Samini emphasised that his support is not blind allegiance.

“If the New Force political party comes out with policies that make me believe they stand a chance of giving us the best when it comes to governance and leadership, I’ll definitely go for that,” he said.
“We like to see people get called out for what they’ve done wrong. That’s how we build a better Ghana.”

What to expect every Wednesday at 9 PM

With PrimeTime, Joy Prime is doubling down on edutainment — entertaining content that also informs and provokes thought. Every week, George Quaye will welcome a new guest with stories, stances, and surprises that promise to keep Ghanaians talking.

Don’t miss the next big conversation. Tune in every Wednesday at 9 PM on Joy Prime — it’s PrimeTime!
